The appeal of these devices over a mouse and keyboard is the ability to pan, zoom and rotate 3D imagery simultaneously, without stopping to change directions using keyboard shortcuts or a software interface. These devices are often referred to as 3D motion controllers, 3D navigation devices, 6DOF devices (six degrees of freedom) or a 3D mouse.Ĭommonly utilized in CAD applications, 3D modeling, animation, 3D visualization and product visualization, users can manipulate the controller's pressure-sensitive handle (historically referred to as either a cap, ball, mouse or knob) to fly through 3D environments or manipulate 3D models within an application. While I'm RMA'ing this one, I was hoping to get some field tested suggestions for a new, comparable mouse. This is apparently a common issue, which really sucks because I like the weight & feel of the mouse. So I guess another option would be to shell out a hundred dollars for one of those.3Dconnexion is a German manufacturer of human interface devices for manipulating and navigating computer-generated 3D imagery. The left-click on my 10 month old Logitech G502se HERO has crapped the bed & is registering phantom double clicks. Or put a magnet inside it and line the platform with sheet metal.įrom the photos, it looks like the curved front surface of the DXT vertical mouse averages about 80°. It's pretty awkward to use a mouse on an 82 degree slope, at least at first, but maybe I'll chop up one of my M310's and glue it back together at that angle. But when I increased the angle to 82°, that felt great.

I used 60° at first, and that felt just as uncomfortable as the Mantistek. I decided to experiment with different angles.

Its wheel doesn't spin as freely as the Logitech M310's wheel, and it takes a lot more pressure to press the wheel for panning. Maybe when my wrist gets untwisted 57° will feel good. Trying it out, it actually feels a little uncomfortable so far, though I guess that might be because I'm used to a horizontal mouse. Its worked for me, Ive never had any problems. It appears to have the same geometry as the Logitech MX, which is advertised as having a 57° angle. Then bend your elbows at 90 degrees, look at the angle of your hand and the height, that should be the angle and height when sitting. It looks different from the ones Mantistek are selling now. I think I bought it on eBay just because it was cheap, and never got around to using it. I looked in my mouse shoebox and found an old Mantistek vertical mouse.

With USB cable, not the smaller unergonomic wireless version. I think it is quite expensive though and I only talk for the larger one, Simply push, pull, twist or tilt the 3dconnexion controller cap to pan, zoom and Rotate your model or camera precisely and intuitively.

With physical middle mouse button, good speed and precision and Like all 3dconnexion 3D mice, space mouse Pro features the patented 3dconnexion 6-degrees-of-freedom (6Dof) sensor that enables you to easily navigate digital models or camera positions in 3D space. So currently I am happy with a 3DConnexion CADMouse. Should be much easier to find something nice and affordable for

I have problems with most scroll wheel clicks.Įspecially with fuzzy scroll wheel click for special multiĭirection scroll wheels like Logitech uses.
